This year, say goodbye to fake Christmas trees and go green for the holidays with a real fresh cut Christmas from the ground to your home. After Christmas, recycling your tree saves landfill space and recycles the trees back to nature.
A free Christmas tree recycling program offered by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, will be Tuesday, December 27 through Monday, January 9, with three tree drop-off sites around the county. Trees can be dropped off at any of the facilities between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The trees are chipped and then used at District preserves. Christmas trees can be dropped off at Isle a la Cache Museum, in Romeoville; the Sugar Creek Administration Center, in Joliet, and Monee Reservoir.
Please remove all tinsel and lights. Only family trees will be accepted; no commercial trees will be taken. Locations include:
Cache Museum – 501 East 135th Street
Sugar Creek Administration Center – 17540 W. Laraway Rd
Monee Reservoir – 27341 Ridgeland Ave.
